This project puts the spotlight on my 12-year-old brother, a cis and heterosexual-identifying male on the cusp of young manhood in relation to the gender spectrum. As we age and start to figure out who we are and who we want to be, the line of pre-existing notions of gender conformity and stereotypical attributes becomes a lot sharper. By using a young cis and hetero boy to be my subject in these works, the topic that I am discussing takes on a different point of view with a lack of attribution to the LGBTQ+ or other stereotypically related community. I aim to blur strongly imposed gender-normative lines (specifically those projected onto children) when it comes to self-identification and comfortability to not fit in to the two pre-existing heteronormative boxes that we provide.
