Through my work I draw from my Latina culture and my fascination in the natural world around us. A lot of the time these two characteristics come across in the same piece, but I also have pieces that separate them. I use traditional ideas from my Mexican heritage to create compositions and to create my concept. my studies I have done in the environmental science field.
I pull from polytheistic religions. I first started studying Hinduism, which opened my world to these kinds of religions. I then dove into Egyptian religion, then finally Aztec religion to learn about my ancestors origins. Through my research, and overarching idea expressed through all three of these religions is that their deities are what created and controlled the natural world we live in. This is where my environmental inspiration crosses over with my religious fascinations.
